Updating personal info 2 Years, 3 Months ago
Hey, Fred!

I sent an e-mail to you about this yesterday before I knew where to send it! Here's the issue: I was able to get in and register, but now I am not able to update anything. I have changed my personal info and display pages several times under "Update your profile," hit the update button and gotten the message that the changes have been accepted, but nothing changes. New information entered disappears. What gives?

Hi, Chris -

Please tell me exactly what you tried to update, so that I can duplicate the problem. I just went to my profile, for example, and under the "personal" tab added "web site development". I hit the update button and the bottom, got the confirmation, and the line now appears under "personal" in my profile.

I want to try to figure out whether the problem is with the area you are trying to change (a web site issue) or whether it has to do with the settings on your login account (an administrative issue).

Thanks!

Hi, Fred!

Thanks for looking into this. I just tried again. I did exactly what you did. I went into "Update Personal Info," clicked on "personal" and entered a title and birth date. Then I hit the Update button and got the message that the changes were accepted. When I went back in, the info wasn't there. Any ideas?

Chris, please try this:

Edit your profile, looking at the Contact Info tab. Fill in whatever fields you wish, and see if it saves properly.

Birthdates will display only month and day, not year!

Fred

I have managed to update my profile info but haven't managed to change my image to one from my computer files.
Any ideas?

Helen

I assume that you followed the process and had a problem with it? Can you tell me more about where it fails?

For the benefit of those who may not know how to change your profile image to one of your own photos from your computer:

  1. Go to your profile.

  2. Click Edit, then select "Update your image". (This won't do a thing for your reputation -- it will only change your profile picture. )

  3. Click the Browse button to select an image/photo from your computer. When you find the one you want, click OK to return to the site.

  4. Click "Upload".

That process works for me ... anyone else having difficulty?

I don't know about funny pictures, but you're a butterfly at the moment!

I went back to the butterfly because I don't like the funny picture!

Have you tried a different photo from your computer, to verify that the issue is with the system and not the particular image you were using? Sometimes a given image file doesn't work right with some systems, for some reason.
