Wednesday Morning Prayers –with the poor pray-ers. October 19th 2011

The OEF poor pray-ers who in the Spirit of St Clare and St. Sylvester are intentionally gathering together on Wednesday mornings to pray for OEF. We are dispersed but have agreed to sit together for prayer between 6:30-7:30 EST, please join with us in prayer.

Let us pray:

Eternal God, Source of all mercies and consolation: may we live to praise you; make the homage we pay you reasonable; season our sacrifices with the salt of wisdom, that our entire being may be transformed into your image; through Jesus Christ our Savior, amen(from the writings of St Clare)

Psalm 23 (translated from the Japanese version)

The Lord is my pacesetter; I shall not rush.
God makes me stop and rest for quiet intervals

God providing me with images of stillness which restore my serenity
Leading me in the ways of efficiency through calmness of mind

And God’s guidance is peace.

Even though I have many things to accomplish each day
I will not fret, for God’s Presence is here.

God’s timelessness, God’s all-importance, will keep me in balance.

Preparing refreshment and renewal in the midst of my activity
By anointing my mind with the oils of tranquility

My cup of joyous energy overflows

Surely harmony and effectiveness shall be the fruits of my hours

For I shall walk in the pace of my Lord and dwell in God’s house forever.

Matthew 14:23
New American Standard Bible (NASB)
23 After He had sent the crowds away, (A)He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray; and when it was evening, He was there alone.

Lord open our hearts and minds to your Presence, let us be still and listen to your still speaking yet small voice.

Today we hold intentionally in our prayers the Order of Ecumenical Franciscans we pray for our continued healing and our growth. We pray for all inquirers, postulants, novices, professed and associates of the OEF.

We pray for our world wide Franciscan family including TSSF, SFO, OFM, SSF the Poor Clare’s. We ask for an increase in vocations to the Franciscan way of life

We pray for the professed members of the OEF and for their prayerful discernment as they choose our next MG.

We pray for Bro. Craig Robert and Sr. Anjelika who have graciously accepted the call of nomination.

We pray for the OEF’s continued healing
We pray for the Lord to open up and soften of our hearts and minds to each other in love, kindness, gentleness and compassion.

We pray for all who minister to the sick and the friendless and all who work for justice, peace and the integrity of creation.

We pray for the work of Franciscans International , FAN, and the Joint Committee on Franciscan Unity

We pray for peace in our world, our country, our neighborhoods, and our homes

We pray for all who are suffering both here and around the world

We pray for all who live in poverty and desperation.

We pray that those who work, stand for, or protest for change in our troubled world. We pray they bring change through peaceful, non violent, and loving ways

We pray for those who we consider our enemies –may they too know peace

Lord, we ask all this through your Most Compassionate Heart, our Savior Jesus Christ

Lord God, as Francis found joy, not only in creation, but also in sharing the sufferings of the world: may we too receive the gift of perfect joy, and by the power of your Spirit may we radiate your peace, and find, even in the suffering, the glory of God

Lord God, you called Francis to be an instrument of peace in a divided world and a broken church; make us like him instruments of peace, reconciliation and healing in a divided church and a world torn by fear.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord, we pray. Amen
