Wednesday Morning Prayers with the OEF poor pray-ers

Good morning

Let us Pray

Eternal God, Source of all mercies and consolation: may we live to praise you; make the homage we pay you reasonable; season our sacrifices with the salt of wisdom, that our entire being may be transformed into your image; through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen (from the writings of St Clare)

The Magnificat-Canticle 15

My soul proclaims the greatness of God
My spirit rejoices in God my Savior
For you have looked with favor on your lowly servant
From this day all generations will call me blessed
For you the Almighty have done great things for me
And Holy is your Name
You have mercy on those who fear you in every generation
You have shown the strength of your arm
You have scattered the proud in their conceit
You have cast down the mighty from their thrones
And have lifted up the lowly
You have filled the hungry with good things
And the rich you have sent away empty
You have come to the help of your servant Israel
For you have remembered your promise of mercy
The promise you made to our forebears
To Abraham, Sarah, and their seed for ever

Glory to God, Source of all being, Eternal Word, and Holy Spirit;
As it was in the beginning is now and will be forever. Amen

The word of God
John 2:13-22
The Passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. In the temple he found people selling cattle, sheep, and doves, and the money-changers seated at their tables. Making a whip of cords, he drove all of them out of the temple, both the sheep and the cattle. He also poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables. He told those who were selling the doves, 'Take these things out of here! Stop making my Father's house a market-place!' His disciples remembered that it was written, 'Zeal for your house will consume me.' The Jews then said to him, 'What sign can you show us for doing this?' Jesus answered them, 'Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.' The Jews then said, 'This temple has been under construction for forty-six years, and will you raise it up in three days?' But he was speaking of the temple of his body. After he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this; and they believed the scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken.
