Peace brothers and sisters.

Leroy was laid to rest on Friday afternoon with a beautiful memorial service at the church followed by another brief service at the grave site. I don't have a firm count, but there were at least several hundred in attendance.

He will be greatly missed by many throughout the community that he served for so many years, especially those that he directed in the food pantry. The work will go on, but the workers say it will not be the same. Leroy was just a lover of people, all people, no matter what their station in life. But he absolutely loved to reach out and help the needy. Even in the food pantry, he found jobs for adults with learning disabilities. It gave them a sense of pride and helped to make them feel wanted and needed within the community.

This Wednesday evening, at our regular weekly "Grief Support Group" at the church, Nancy and I will have our own little memorial for Leroy. We are asking friends and family that are there that evening for Bible Study, other religious classes, mid-week evening service, or working with the various youth groups, to just stop by for a few minutes. We are encouraging them to light a candle for Leroy, and to write down and share a favorite memory of Leroy in a journal. Later, the book will be presented to his family.

I want to thank all that have prayed for Leroy, his family, and his friends. It has meant a lot to all concerned and will not be forgotten.

Peace and all goodness,

Phil

May God bless Leroy and his family. May all the seeds of love he sowed on this fertile ground bring hope and peace to all he left behind.

May his family, friends and foodbank co-workers find consolation in the bosom of the One to whom Leroy has gone to meet, glorify and rejoice in.

May all the hungry and the thirsty Leroy has left upon this earth meet Giver of all Life, and rejoice also that Leroy's life pointed them all to his Lord, to our Lord. Amen.

God give you peace, also, Philip and Nancy.

To those that have been praying for Leroy Warren, an elder at the church that Nancy and I attend, we just received word that he passed just a short time ago. I have no doubt that he is now with his creator. Praise God!

Nancy and I spent six hours with Leroy yesterday allowing his wife and son time to go into town to complete final arrangements at the mortuary and take care of other needed business. Leroy was in bad shape then as the cancer had attacked and destroyed most of his bone marrow. Nancy and I, having worked with hospice patients and others with cancer, felt that it was almost the end when we were with him. The signs were there. But even though Leroy had chosen to "go home" to be with God, the body still continued to fight for survival. But we knew it was a losing battle and the end would come soon.

Last Friday, Leroy was feeling well enough to let his wife and son put him in the car and drive him to the church. There, he stayed in the car while the workers at the food pantry that he so loved, came out and cheered for him, and each took turns going to the car to speak with him briefly. It cheered him up considerably to know that so many people appreciated what he had done for the church and the community.

Now, I just ask for a few prayers for his family and all of his friends that will now mourn his loss. Leroy was a good man that loved everyone, especially the needy and the hungry in the community. He was so happy to run the food bank that feeds so many people throughout the entire county.

May his soul rest in peace and forever shine reflecting the glory of God!

My beloved wife of 38 years will be having back surgery on Friday, the 20th. The hospital isn't our local one, but one in downtown Seattle, 65 miles away. Right now, we are having a major snowstorm which may break a 45 year record for our snowfall in a single storm. Thank-you for your prayers for both a safe arrival and a healing surgery! Pace e Bene!

A dear friend of mine, Kaete (Pomona, CA), just called to inform me that she had brain surgery a month ago for removal of a benign tumor that had affected her balance. The surgeon could not remove the entire tumor; the prospect of it growing again and damaging her hearing or causing new neurological problems troubles her. So, I ask for your prayers for Kaete as she recuperates from a complex surgery and copes with its emotional and physical aftermath.
Gratefully,
Sophie Elisa

Re:Prayers for healing 4 Months ago
I humbly ask for prayers for one of the elders of our church here in Oklahoma. Leroy Warren has been fighting cancer for some time and we thought he was winning the battle. Earlier last year he received a number of chemo treatments and the doctors proclaimed him cancer free. Last month he went in for tests, and they said the cancer had returned and has now spread through his entire body. The doctors again offered him extreme chemo therapy with the hope of buying him a little more time. He has opted to come home, skip all further treatment, and go on hospice. He will come home from Oklahoma City tomorrow and the doctors have given him about 6 weeks.

Leroy is a very kind and loving man that lives and breathes for the church. He is the person that heads our "food bank" program that distributes up to 15,000 pounds of food to the needy each week. He is very active in most of the church activities and supports missions, special needs projects and many of the training and educational programs within the church.

I pray that God will ease his suffering and allow him to return to his Creator in a peaceful way. I respectfully ask that you pray for him and his family, and for our church family that will miss him dearly.

Peace and love to all...

Phil

Prayers indeed! Healing for all in need. And blessings to you for beginning a new year minus a few pieces of wisdom - may they go unmissed!
